Tenerife Tram will have contactless-ticketing system this year

Metrotenerife, tram operator, and Titsa, buses company, have presented the contactless-ticketing system. This solution will be implemented by Indra in the urban and inter-city buses and tram services replacing the current magnetic strip ticketing system.

With the new contactless cards, the users only has passed the card in front of the card reader. Besides, the passengers will now be able to use a single contactless card on urban and intercity buses, trams and also 40 taxis on the island. This will encourage intermodality and combined transport.

Public transportation users will also be able to use the new card to pay the dissuasive parking charges of La Laguna and Santa Cruz. The contactless cards can be reload in all the tram stops, in more than 300 point of sales.
