Metrotenerife will provide technical assistance for the implementation of Cuenca Tram

Metrotenerife achieves new successes in its external projection. The Mobility Secretariat of the Municipality of Cuenca (Ecuador) has awarded Metrotenerife the technical assistance for the pre-operation and commercial operation of Cuatro Ríos Tram of the Cuenca city during 3 years and 7 months. The contract, worth 3.500.000 dollars, is the largest amount so far obtained by the company.

The president of Island Government, Carlos Alonso, highlighted the work developed by Metrotenerife that “has proved that its technical capacity is undeniable, both on the Island and beyond our borders, with the consulting services for the tram systems of Cádiz, Zaragoza, Rabat or Jerusalem”. In addition, he reminded that Metrotenerife is part of the island program Tenerife Licita with the aim of advising companies on the island to diversify their economy and seek new opportunities outside out of the Canary Islands.

The managing director of Metrotenerife, Andrés Muñoz de Dios, and several technicians have travelled to Ecuador to structure the organization of the implementation of the new tram service. The assistance includes: diagnostic and elaboration of the manual of profiles and roles for recruiting staff, preparation of the operation of the line, and technical assistance in the commercial service. Metrotenerife competed for the contract with other tram companies from Argentina and Colombia.

The Cuenca Tram will operate the first trimester of 2019. The service will have 27 tram stops, a route of 10,2 kilometres and 14 trams. More information about this tram system in the external link www.tranviacuenca.com
